What’s the Best Chevy SUV for You?

So you’re looking for a used SUV, and you’re not sure where to start. That’s where we come in. With so many options and even a new addition in the rebooted Chevy Blazer, it’s hard to know if you’re buying enough car. How do you know the SUV you are looking at online or on the lot will be perfect for your lifestyle? Luckily, there are options for any size family and any lifestyle. The Chevy lineup of used SUVs for sale is as complete and comprehensive as you’ll find anywhere.
That’s what makes Chevy a great place to start your used SUV search. Clearly, you’re already a savvy consumer if you’re looking to save money on a used vehicle, with the known depreciation of new cars. While there are certainly good reasons to buy new, such as the latest technology, safety features, and financial incentives, often, the money you save on a used vehicle outweighs the latest and greatest. Of course, that’s a personal preference, and that’s why we’re here—to help you make the decision that best fits your needs.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the many options you have to choose from. We’re proud of Chevy’s diverse lineup of SUVs and are confident we can find something for everyone. We have the largest new Chevrolet inventory in the Southeast USA region, and an expansive pre-owned inventory, so the hardest part of car shopping with us is deciding between the many options you will find here.
One of the hardest aspects of used car shopping, in general, is deciding which features you want, so being aware of these features before you start your search is a big help to narrow down what you can’t live without. So let’s take a look at the many options and features you will encounter in your search for a used Chevy SUV.
The Zippy Chevy Trax
This is a subcompact SUV whose class includes models such as the Nissan Juke and Mazda CX-3. What separates the Trax from its class is how well-rounded it is. While other models in its class focus on performance or fuel efficiency, the Trax excels in every category. Also, for the 2017 year, the Trax was redesigned with a new front end and improved interior, adding new safety features and infotainment technology as well.
So what’s standard on, for example, a 2017 Trax? Try a 7-inch touch screen with a new infotainment system, Bluetooth audio streaming, two USB ports, rearview camera, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.

Now for the fun stuff: what features can you expect to find in your search? Keep your eye out for a sunroof, heated leatherette seats, remote-sensing keyless unlock with push-button start, a premium audio system, blind-zone alerts, rear parking sensors. And just when you thought leather might be out of your price range—you’ll be surprised at the range of affordable, optional features you’ll find on our pre-owned lot.
The Family Friendly Chevy Equinox
The Chevy Equinox is a compact SUV with a reputation for affordability and maintaining its value. Though this is a compact SUV, it has a 3,500-lb towing capacity, and a 100-horsepower edge over its competitors when fitted with its V6 engine. If you prefer fuel efficiency over power, there’s an option for a 2.4-liter inline-4, which gets 22/32 mpg. This is a good example of how a little research can go a long way in narrowing down your search.
We’ll stick with the 2017 year for the Equinox and look at some of the other features you can expect to find: check out the rear passenger space. The Equinox has one of the roomiest back seats in its class. If you’re looking for an SUV to haul kids to school, this is a great choice. Standard is an audio system with a 7-inch touch-screen display, a rearview camera, and air conditioning. Safety features are also abundant: traction and stability control, as well as multiple airbags and many more.
Other features you will want to look out for: Chevy MyLink system with navigation, blind-spot detection, and rear cross-path detection, lane-departure warning and forward-collision alert, and a rear-seat DVD player. We know that’s a lot of information all at once, but it’s good to have something to reference and guide you through your search.
A Crossover for Everyone: The Chevy Traverse
The Traverse is a handsome crossover at home in any driveway. With 3-row seating and a spacious cargo bay, this is an SUV built for road trips and soccer practice.
Standard on the Traverse is keyless entry, Bluetooth phone connectivity, AM/FM/CD/satellite audio with a 6.5-inch touch-screen display, a rearview camera, and front and rear USB ports, as well as 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability. Options include AWD on all trims levels, blind-spot monitoring with a rear cross-traffic alert system, navigation with traffic data, a power liftgate, 10-speaker Bose audio, rear-seat DVD system, and a dual-panel sunroof.
With up to 288 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, the Traverse can tow over 5,000 pounds, which makes for a very capable crossover SUV. And if you can imagine all of this power with sedan-like comfort, great handling, and a quiet cabin, then you can just begin to imagine what driving the Traverse is like.
The Freedom to Go Anywhere with the Chevy Tahoe
The Tahoe is loaded with high-tech features and is a powerful full-size SUV. This is a perfect vehicle for carpooling, as it can seat up to nine passengers and towing your boat to the lake, as it has 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. That’s quite a combination for the family, but when you also add in the fact that it has genuine off-road capability, you have an SUV built for any kind of weekend fun.
The 5.3-liter, V8 engine, with a 6-speed automatic transmission, is standard for the Tahoe. Also standard is a 6-speaker audio system with Bluetooth streaming, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, and rear parking sensors. Teen Driver, which helps you monitor and set limits on your kid’s driving activities, is also standard. The Tahoe also comes standard with a full suite of OnStar automatic crash response.
Other cool features to look out for include adaptive cruise control, a rear-seat entertainment system that includes HDMI, and an additional USB port.
To Carry Everyone and Everything: The Chevy Suburban
Another great all-purpose family vehicle is the Chevy Suburban. The main difference between the Tahoe and Suburban is size. The Suburban is a bigger full-size SUV than the Tahoe, so you will find that it has more cargo space and leg and headroom. For example, the third-row seat has almost 10 inches of extra leg-room. Both full-size SUVs emphasize safety and comfort for large families who need a powerful vehicle. And both offer a modern exterior and interior and are loaded with the latest technology.
Meeting the Challenge with the Chevy Blazer
We thought we’d also mention our newest addition to the Chevy SUV lineup, the 2019 Chevy Blazer. With an available towing capacity of up to 4,500 lbs, this is a powerful and stylish reboot of the earlier Blazer generations. This incarnation finds the Blazer with startling on-road competence and modern touches. This is one to watch out for, as it is truly a modern marvel. The standard infotainment interface, for example, is an 8-inch touch screen that features clear icons, a common-sense interface, and standard smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And while this model is still pretty new, there is always a chance you might bump into one on a used car lot
