Treat Yourself to a Camaro

The Chevrolet Camaro is one of America’s most iconic sports cars, and for a good reason. Combining a powerful engine and aggressive good looks with an affordable price tag and surprising practicality, the Camaro allows anyone the experience of owning a performance car. If this fun vehicle has caught your eye and you are looking for an Atlanta Chevy dealer to learn more about its features and specs, drop by Rick Hendrick, the best Chevy Dealer in Atlanta GA, and we will make sure you find yourself the car of your dreams. Whether you are a first-time buyer or a long-time Chevy owner, we strive to make your car-buying experience as hassle-free as possible. So here are some details on the current Camaro models to give you an idea of what you are looking for before you visit our dealership.
Meet the Camaro
The Camaro is a four-seat vehicle and is available as either a hardtop coupe or as a power-folding soft-top convertible. While the coupe may be somewhat more practical because of its larger trunk and folding rear seats, driving a convertible makes for a great experience during our hot Atlanta summers. And with the Camaro’s remote-folding roof, you will never again have to climb into a hot car. While the Camaro does only have two doors, its ability to seat four means that it can easily be your only car even if you do need to carry passengers occasionally. Altogether, we at Rick Hendrick believe that this design strikes an excellent balance between sporty and comfortable and will be happy to show you all the features of the Camaro at our Atlanta Chevy dealership.
For power, the 2020 Chevy Camaro offers four engine options. The base engine is a 2.0L turbo with 275 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. While this may not be the most powerful engine on the road, it is enough to push the Camaro to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, and it achieves an excellent 31 MPG on the highway. If you are looking for a fun daily driver, then this engine is a great choice. The Camaro also has a slightly more powerful 3.6L V6 option with 335 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque. While the fuel economy on this engine is not quite as good, it will turn in a 0 to 60 time of 5.2 seconds and give you that classic V6 sound. This engine is probably the best choice if you are getting into performance cars for the first time and do not intend to take it to the track or drag strip.
However, if you do want a real track car or simply desire more power, then the 6.2L V8 is the engine for you. With 455 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque, this engine has a 0 to 60 time of 4.0 seconds and can give far more expensive vehicles a run for their money. But if even that is not enough, then the top-trim Camaro ZL1 offers a supercharged version of this engine with an impressive 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, resulting in a 0 to 60 time of just 3.5 seconds – a figure that is faster than the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Not bad for a car that can still seat four and have enough space to pick up the groceries when you are not chasing quarter-mile times.

Which Trim is Right for You?
Possibly the most confusing part of shopping for a Camaro is understanding the eight different trim levels. While our knowledgeable team will be happy to demonstrate the differences in person at our Atlanta Chevy dealership, here is an overview of the basics. The most important difference between the trims is the available engines. The base 1LS trim is only offered with the 2.0L turbo, while the 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trims can be had with either the 2.0L turbo or the 3.6L V6 engines. If you want the 6.2L V8 engine, then your options are the LT1, 1SS, or 2SS trims, while the supercharged V8 is unique to the ZL1 trim. But while knowing which engine you want narrows down the options, unless you are set on the supercharged V8, it still leaves you with several choices.
Beginning with non-V8 trims, you will find that mechanically all four are virtually identical, although the base 1LS trim is not offered as a convertible. However, the 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trims can be configured with the optional Performance Package, which will give them essential performance upgrades, including Brembo brakes, heavy-duty cooling, and improved suspension. While the differences may not be noticeable on the street, they will quickly become apparent under hard use. The higher trims also include numerous interior upgrades to make for a more pleasant driving experience. The 1LT trim adds a power passenger’s seat, while the 2LT trim includes dual-zone climate control and heated and vented seats. Finally, the 3LT trim has an 8” infotainment screen, Bose speakers, a heated steering wheel, and a head-up display. It also includes safety features such as forward collision alert, blind-spot, and rear cross-traffic alerts, and rear park assists, making it an extremely comfortable daily driver.
The V8 Trim Levels

However, upgrading from the 3LT trim to the base V8 trim will lose many of these features. So if you do not need that extra power, then you will get more value for your dollar sticking with the 2LT or 3LT trim. If you do want the V8 engine, then the LT1 trim will give you generally the features of the 1LT trim. But the next-higher 1SS trim will not give you the features of the 2LT trim. In fact, it even lacks some of the interior options of the 1LT trim. Instead of luxury features, the 1SS trim focuses on performance upgrades, including Brembo brakes front and rear, improved cooling, and a track mode. It also offers a Performance Package that includes advanced performance technology such as an electronic limited-slip differential, magnetic ride control, launch control. With this package, the 1SS trim becomes a formidable racing machine.
Upgrading to the 2SS trim combines the performance upgrades of the 1SS trim with the luxury features of the 3LT trim, resulting in a car that is equally at home pushing the limits on the track or comfortably cruising on the highway. Finally, the ZL1 represents the ultimate Camaro. In its standard configuration, it includes all of the optional features of the 2SS trim with its supercharged V8 engine. And if you select its unique Extreme Track Performance package, it will also have enhanced aero, carbon fiber touches, and fully adjustable suspension. While the $70,000 price tag on this configuration is steep, it represents the incredible value when you consider that the performance of the ZL1 Camaro is approaching supercar territory.
