In addition to planning out your costume and stocking up on Halloween decorations, you should start thinking about what haunted houses you want to visit. Luckily, Atlanta is brimming with spooky options. Add some of these chilling haunted houses to your next Halloween itinerary.

Netherworld
Journey to the dark depths of the beyond when you visit Netherworld. This walk-through attraction has been in the scaring business since 1997, and each year just keeps building on the terror. You’ll be treated to live actors lurking in the shadows, ready to jump out and scare you with terrifying makeup and costumes. Dressed as monsters, ghouls, and zombies, the dedicated crew will do its very best to make you scream with a hefty helping of special effects.

For Halloween 2018, Netherworld is moving to a new location in Stone Mountain, which is just a half hour outside of downtown Atlanta.

Camp Blood and Nightmare Inn
Take a walk down Camp Blood Trail, and you might never see the light of day again. Residents of the nearby Nightmare Inn are known to linger here after they escape their confinement. Since they’ve been cooped up so long, they are often craving destruction in the form of chainsaws and blood. Keep an eye out; otherwise, you might be separated from your group and slaughtered under the moonlight.

Once you complete the trail, you can go into Nightmare Inn itself, if you dare. The Inn is under the ownership of Dr. Clem Rustmuler, who may or may not have some tricks up his sleeve. If all of this is too scary for you, head over to the backwoods to try your hand at shooting zombies with paintballs.

The ticket for both Camp Blood Trail and Nightmare Inn is only $20, and paintball costs an extra $10 to add-on. The complex is in Carrollton, which is about an hour drive outside of town.

13 Stories of Haunted House
If one floor of a haunted house isn’t enough for you, see if you can withstand the 13 Stories Haunted House. This 54,000 square foot-complex promises pure terror to all of its guests. Rather than just passively walking through this maze of scares, you’ll be invited to take part in the fun by fighting and killing zombies that get in your path. You can also go on a special Sacrifice Hunt where you’ll be tested both physically and mentally.

13 Stories of Haunted House is in Newnan, which is just under 45 minutes from Atlanta. Tickets for this massive scarefest are between $15 to $55, depending on the dates you want to go and the attractions you want to take part in.
