We’d be lying if we said that the Chevy Colorado wasn’t already our favorite midsize truck with a wide range of fantastic features that we keep coming back for year after year. That being said, Chevy’s designers and engineers clearly aren’t the ones to achieve perfection and then take a victory lap; they’re constantly working to make the Colorado even better. If you’re a Georgia resident looking for a Chevy Colorado for sale, look no further than Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford and our extensive selection of Colorado models. In the meantime, let’s take a look at the brand-new 2023 Chevy Colorado and give you seven reasons why we’re so excited about the latest version of this standout Chevy truck.

#1 – The Incredible New Engine

There’s no reason to mince words here: the engine is everything when it comes to finding a great truck that is perfect for both work and play. Since so many of us love the midsize Colorado for exactly this functionality, we’ve always been pleased by the impressive engines it offers. With the all-new 2023 model, however, this is getting even better thanks to a new standard 2.7L Turbo engine, the same incredible engine that has already proven itself in the Colorado’s big sibling, the full-size Silverado. Across the five trims of the Colorado, three versions are offered:

  • The 2.7L Turbo, offering 237 hp and 259 lb-ft of torque
  • The 2.7L Turbo Plus, offering 310 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque
  • The 2.7L Turbo High-Output, offering 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of Torque

The standard Turbo version lets the Colorado handle up to 3,500 lbs of towing capacity, while the two that are tuned for higher power and torque allow it to tow up to 7,700 lbs of weight behind it. These engine versions have been enhanced in numerous ways for the 2023 model, including a more rigid cylinder block and materials that make them more durable. They all come with a second-generation eight-speed automatic transmission that’s been improved for smoother shifting and quicker downshifts, so no matter which one you choose, you’ll get a fantastic driving experience.

#2 – Three (!) Off-Road Models to Choose From

For years now, the Chevy Colorado has been our favorite truck for going off-road; the Silverado has its impressive Trail Boss trims, but we can’t help but love the maneuverability that the midsize Colorado brings to the trail. Well, the best is getting even better for 2023, as Chevy has delivered three different off-road models of the Colorado. There’s the Z71, which is the perfect choice if you’re looking to do some light off-roading and don’t need something designed to handle the most demanding trails.

If you want something more capable, then the all-new Trail Boss trim is available for the first time on the Colorado. The Trail Boss has been a favorite for many Silverado drivers, and it brings its impressive style and performance to the Colorado this year. Finally, the legendary ZR2 has been improved and updated with superior off-road performance, making it one of the most capable trucks you’ll find on the trail. All three are fantastic options, and the right one for you depends on the kinds of trails you plan on tackling with your pickup.

#3 – Three Distinct Chassis Setups Available

To support these three off-road models, Chevy has given each of them a different chassis setup to fully enable them to achieve the kind of performance you’re looking for. All three are fantastic, and it really showcases how Chevy’s engineers understand the different needs of drivers looking to do a variety of things with their trucks. The three chassis setups are:

  • Standard Suspension – WT, LT, and Z71 trims
  • 2-inch Factory-Lifted, Ultra-Wide Stance – Trail Boss
  • High-Performance 3-inch Factory-Lifted & Wide Stance – ZR2

The ZR2 also features upgraded Multimatic DSSV dampers to go along with this massive lift, providing you with incredible off-road performance. We love seeing this kind of variety because it means you can get exactly the right truck for what you need, no more or less. You don’t have to go all-in on the ZR2 if the Trail Boss can handle the trails you like while not being stuck with a standard suspension if you know you want to tackle some challenging terrain.

#4 – Five Selectable Drive Modes

Speaking of challenging terrain, the 2023 Chevy Colorado supplements these new off-road options and enhanced engineering with five selectable drive modes designed to let you focus the performance of your Colorado on the task at hand. Each mode has been created to provide you with the optimal control and traction in a variety of driving conditions, with a convenient knob that you can use to select the appropriate mode as needed. These five modes are:

  • Normal – Designed for everyday driving with balanced performance
  • Tow/Haul – Transmission, throttle, and other features optimized for towing
  • Off-Road – Designed for general driving off the pavement with improved traction
  • Terrain – This is for low-speed rock crawling and handling similar terrain
  • Baja – Designed for high-speed desert and off-road driving with boosted performance

You don’t get all five modes on every model, as some off-road options are exclusive to the off-road trims of the Colorado. Still, with these drive modes available, you can ensure your Colorado is getting the best performance and traction while giving you impeccable control in the conditions you find yourself in.

#5 – New and Improved Tech Features

The technology you get in the Colorado is better than ever for the 2023 model year, starting with the gorgeous 8-inch Infotainment display at the heart of the front dashboard. This screen makes everything else easier to see and use and includes customizable and configurable options that let you use all of this tech as easily as possible. The all-new Off-Road Performance Display is an available app that helps you monitor the performance of your truck while on the trail in real-time, giving you different readouts for different situations. Set it to Overlanding to see your altitude and GPS information, while the Terrain setting gives you information about your pitch, roll, and tire pressure as you’re rock-crawling. Plus, with up to 10 available camera views, more than any competitor in its class, the Colorado gives you a better view around your vehicle, including a segment-first available underbody camera for going off-road.

#6 – A Bold and Aggressive New Look

While the Colorado is unmistakably a Chevy truck, its overall look has been updated and reimagined with a bolder and more aggressive look. A Crew Cab and short bed is the exclusive design for the 2023 model, with a wider stance and design cues that bring everything together, along with a new athletic hood profile for a strong overall appearance. You get 17-inch wheels standard, with 18-inch wheels available, along with LED lighting on the Z71 and ZR2 trims. A newly available tailgate offers improved functionality with built-in storage and midway-position functionality to allow for longer items. The bed has eight standard fixed tie-downs and an available 110-volt power outlet, giving you all of the functionality you need.

#7 – A Redesigned, Stunning Interior

The 2023 Colorado doesn’t just look good on the outside; the interior has also been updated throughout to look fantastic and provide you with excellent overall functionality. Depending on the trim you choose, you’ll find different features, with the starting models giving you a rugged aesthetic that’s still comfortable, while the LT has more refined details. The Z71 trim has a sporty interior with unique touches to highlight its overall feel and experience.

No matter which Colorado model you look at, you will find an amazing pickup that’s been updated and redesigned to take its legacy to the next level. We could keep going on about all of the things we love about this truck, but we haven’t even mentioned the fact that these amazing new features and improvements start at just $29,200.[a] A fantastic truck at a great price; what’s not to love?
