Say Hello to Chevy’s First Hybrid Sports Car: The 2024 Corvette E-Ray

If you’ve been searching for electric vehicles for sale but you’re still not sure if you’re ready to take the plunge, a hybrid might be just what you’re looking for. But if you want style? Speed? All the classic good looks of a sports car? Then you’re in luck! Chevrolet has taken one of its most iconic cars, the Corvette, and updated it to create a clean, green speed machine. Dubbed the E-Ray after the uber-popular Stingray, this hybrid sports car has all the sleek good looks of a classic Corvette and all the latest hybrid technology to create the fastest, cleanest Corvette ever. As for its name? We think it’s perfectly fitting, and we’re all in.
A New Era of the Corvette
The first Corvette was released to the world back in 1953. What a difference 70 years can make. Over the course of eight generations, the Corvette has seen countless updates, refreshes, and redesigns, all while gaining a cult following of enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. Now for the first time ever, drivers can experience the thrill of an electrified Corvette that delivers the quickest acceleration of any Corvette out there. The e-AWD system combines a 160-hp electric motor with a 495-hp V8 engine to deliver 655 hp and enough acceleration to take you from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds.
Unlike plug-in hybrids or electric vehicles, the E-Ray doesn’t require charging and replenishes the battery when you brake or even while you are driving, thanks to the car’s option that lets drivers charge the battery as they go. The 1.9 kW battery pack is designed to sit between the front seats in a long tunnel-like shape. If the situation calls for it, drivers can switch to Stealth Mode and go a few miles on just the battery alone. As for the V8 engine? It’s placed behind the seats as opposed to its traditional place, under the hood. This is a smart move, improving the balance of the car and freeing up space for the battery and electric motor.
Are you wondering how much this eco-beauty will set you back? The 2024 Corvette E-Ray can be yours starting at $102,900.[a] If you’re a stickler for the classic convertible, you can get your hands on the power-folding hard top version starting at $109,900.[a] While these prices are definitely more than your average sports car, remember that hybrid speedsters like the Ferrari 296 GTB and McLaren Artura start at over twice that.

Check Out the Power
What makes the E-Ray so thrilling? Everything. From its supercar design down to the power of its compact e-AWD system that works in combination with the car’s LT2 V8 engine for a smooth, nearly silent ride that is unlike anything else. Standard carbon ceramic brakes and 345-width Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rear tires give the E-Ray the stopping power and grip needed to make full use of its potent hybrid powertrain.
The 6.2L V8 engine can deliver upwards of 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque unassisted, but that is just one part of the overall thrilling experience that the E-Ray is capable of. The other half is brought to you thanks to the hybrid’s 1.9 kW lithium-ion battery, which is designed to be self-charging, giving you the freedom to get in and charge as you go. The E-Ray’s electric drive unit contributes an additional 160 hp, resulting in the car’s impressive 655 hp.
When it comes to power distribution, the E-Ray’s gas engine and electric motor work independently but in conjunction with each other. The LT2 V8 engine sends upwards of 470 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels, while the electric motor delivers 125 lb-ft of torque to the front. On top of that, thanks to the system’s electric-only Stealth Mode (or, as we like to call it, “Ninja Mode”), you can guide your vehicle silently down the driveway and through sleeping streets before kicking in the V8 once you hit the freeway.
Your High-Tech Command Center
The thrills continue inside as the 2024 Corvette E-Ray gives drivers access to a standard Head-Up Display that provides performance data, fuel levels, alerts, and speed. You can choose to enhance your drive when you level up to the available Performance Data Recorder. This system records your drive and gives feedback and detailed analysis to help you improve your driving. This feature is great for both the street and the track.
You can expect your smartphone to sync seamlessly with the E-Ray, thanks to standard wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and your favorite playlists will sound amazing through the available 14-speaker Bose Performance Series speaker system. The latest user-friend tech is delivered to your fingertips, including the all-new E-Ray App, located on the center screen for quick viewing, which makes it easy to keep an eye on updates, power levels, alerts, and the road ahead.
Advance Your Ride
The new 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray delivers in terms of style and performance. But that’s not all; the electrified ‘Vette offers endless options to upgrade and customize your ride, making the car even more appealing for those who have an eye for details. Drivers can choose from three different trim options and two body styles.
The lineup begins with the 1LZ coupe, which can be had for $102,900.[a] Leveling up to the 2LZ introduces drivers to wireless charging, an upgraded sound system, and heated and ventilated seats. The top-trim 3LZ means GT2 seating with Nappa leather and carbon fiber trim, and other upscale materials throughout the cabin. If you want to feel the open air at the press of a button, there is a convertible version of all three trims. The convertible does bring a small price premium, with the 3LZ convertible topping out at $120,850.[a]
Chevy lets you indulge in your creative side thanks to the ability to fully customize your E-Ray with additional stripes, various wheels, daring color combinations, custom roof options, and more. You can design your 2024 Corvette E-Ray down to your exact specifications for a completely unique ride unlike anything else on the road.

The Electrifying E-Ray Is Here
Has a hybrid ever caused such a stir? We don’t think so. A Corvette always turns heads, but now with the E-Ray hybrid, you expect to see lingering stares long after the car has turned the corner. Going green has never looked this stylish.
While the E-Ray has all the good looks of a classic Corvette, what really intrigues us is the self-charging battery. While some people avoid electric vehicles because they can’t be bothered to remember to charge their car at the end of the day, the E-Ray’s self-charging battery is a whole new animal. Add to that the speedster’s impressive power and all-wheel drive performance, and we think Chevy has really created a game changer when it comes to how we think of hybrids.
The 2024 Corvette E-Ray is packed with top-of-the-line features and tech to make it stand out in the hybrid sports car segment. Not to mention that it has a starting price well below many of its competitors. We can see why people thinking about getting a Corvette might consider it worth upping the power and performance while reducing their carbon footprint. If you want to see the new E-Ray in person, we are waiting to show it off here at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford.
