Lifted Trucks

Lifted trucks have a weird dynamic to them. Some may see these modifications as wholly unnecessary, like a lowered car. Unlike a lowered car, however, lifted trucks have several practical benefits. This may be why you see far more lifted trucks for sale in Georgia than you do lowered cars. Georgia, in particular, offers unique reasons to have a lifted truck.
We will be honest – some of these reasons are purely aesthetic. Georgia is forever a part of the Deep South, and here, we love our pickup trucks. Even though Georgia has one of the broadest driver demographics in the South, we still have more than our fair share of pickup trucks. Some people like to make their pickup truck stand out above the rest. You can only have so many decals, bumper stickers, flags, and Atlanta Braves paraphernalia on your truck before you need something a bit more.
In a state that has more than its per capita share of trucks, lifting a truck is a good way to make it stand out. But, Georgia also has several areas that make having a lifted truck a reasonable expense. If you find yourself in any of the following areas, see how having a lifted truck in Georgia might be beneficial to you.
Off-Road
The first practical reason is for off-roading. Georgia is one of the most geographically diverse states in the South. We have everything from the Appalachian mountains to the Piedmont region, from coastal plains to south Georgia forests. There is the swampland of the Georgia/Florida border and the never-ending rural dust trails of central Georgia. Few states in the US of A can claim as many diverse biospheres as the Empire State of the South can. Whatever brand of off-roading you are into, Georgia is pretty much guaranteed to offer it.
Lifted trucks provide incredible benefits when off-roading. First, you have extra clearance from the ground. Anyone that has ever taken a ruck off-road has heard every scrape and nick that has hit the undercarriage with a sense of dread. Even the slightest hit to the wrong spot under a truck can cause extreme damage to a pickup truck. And when you hear that scrape, even if it turns out to be nothing, can be a temporary heart-stopper. Having that extra clearance is not only a practical measure to keep the sharp objects away from your truck, it also offers a little peace of mind.
Lifted trucks also offer extra shock absorption when off-roading. Depending on your choice of terrain, off-roading can do some serious rustling and tussling to the passengers in the cabin. One of the core features of a lift kit on trucks is expanded shock absorbers. As the most practical aspect, it also offers the biggest safety value to having a lifted truck.
So, if you are a Georgia off-roader, you have a definite advantage in buying a lifted truck. There are several pickup trucks that have already taken advantage of the after-market alterations that off-roaders have made by offering off-road-ready trucks (and even SUVs). You could buy one of those new, or you could buy a used lifted truck from someone who obviously knew what he was doing.

High Vantage Point
The second advantage of having a lifted pickup truck is that it has a higher vantage point in traffic. This may seem somewhat trivial, but we assure you it is not. Atlanta traffic has routinely been ranked among the worst in America for years. If you have ever spent any amount of time in Atlanta traffic, you will most likely agree. Spaghetti Junction is one of the worst interchanges in the country for accidents and wait time resulting from accidents. Outside Atlanta, we all know that I-75 has been under construction seemingly since Eisenhower introduced the Interstate system in the 1950s.
Traffic is as endemic a problem in Atlanta and Georgia as a lack of winning sports teams, unfortunately (minus Atlanta United). Nothing can ruin your day or week like having a traffic incident preclude you from getting to where you need to go. A lifted truck can give you a line of sight advantage that no other vehicles can, save a tractor-trailer or traffic helicopter. Most pickups and SUVs naturally have a higher vantage point than cars, but a lifted truck will give you a line of sight over traffic far more than the average vehicle, even trucks and SUVs. This can help you avoid potential accidents and other road concerns in many situations, especially the long, flat roads of central Georgia.
Having a vantage point that is significantly higher than most of the other vehicles on the road is one of those perks that most people will never know. They will also most likely never realize what they are missing. Those with lifted trucks can see that coming a mile away.
The third reason that having a lifted truck can be beneficial is that there are tons of people, just like you, all over Georgia and the Southeast. They know and understand the benefits of having a lifted truck, just like you. If those folks didn’t exist, you wouldn’t see so many lifted trucks on the Georgia roads.
After Market Additions
Those folks, like you, have set a market precedence. Like we said earlier, certain truck and SUV makers have recognized that off-roaders made after-market additions to their trucks. These automakers listened and incorporated these ideas into new models and trim levels. It has happened across the board. It even goes back to when Henry Ford adapted early models to accommodate those who had altered his vehicles to add a truck bed. That’s right; the consumer basically invented the pickup truck.
So, there is already a market for adapted vehicles. In Georgia, given our greater need for lifted trucks than most other states, that market is thriving. Your used lifted truck will cost you significantly less than one of those newer models that have some of the same major accommodations. And, if you are already into a lifted truck, then chances are you know how to make further off-roading changes, or at least know someone who can.
Furthermore, once you have decided to move on from your lifted truck to something different (or another lifted truck), you will have a pickup truck that has a greater resale value. You know this, because you are in the market for one now. The same year model from the mid to late 2010s with a lift kit on it, to the right buyer, will resale for a higher value than one that has no modifications. You have to know your audience. You do because you are part of that audience.
