Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain is a favorite outdoor adventure close to Atlanta and, in the winter, is the site of snow tubing and other fun activities! While the city may not get much snow, Snow Mountain gets enough to create a wonderland that is the ideal spot to spend a brisk afternoon sledding. After some fun in the snow, enjoy a warm cup of hot cocoa. Fun for all ages, Stone Mountain is the perfect excuse to get out of the house for a day and enjoy the weather with a little distance from the city.

Festival of the SEAson

The Georgia Aquarium is one of the best in the country, and they put on a holiday spectacular event that is too good to be missed! Holiday light shows mesmerize visitors and all live animal shows have exciting holiday elements. Some favorites include SCUBA Claus, who teaches visitors about the wonders of the awe-inspiring big tank that is home to whale sharks and manta rays.

There are also lots of holiday-themed activities for young ones throughout the season. The Georgia Aquarium is located across from the Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta.

Hot Chocolate 15k/5k

Put on your running shoes and get for the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k, one of the most anticipated races in Atlanta. This race runs past many of the highlights of Atlanta on both the 15k and 5k tracks. The race is appropriate for both newcomers and experienced participants, and it all centers on fun! Atlanta’s next race will be held on Feb. 4, 2018,

Besides the race, the biggest theme of the event is the hot chocolate, of course! There is around 4,000 pounds of melted chocolate present at the race. Gluten and peanut free dark chocolate is served; nothing but the best for their runners! Sweet stations along the run include M&Ms, marshmallows, and chocolate chips. Spectators are also more than welcome to help themselves to a cup of luxurious hot chocolate while they cheer on their favorite runner.

These four wintertime destinations and activities fun and perfect for both the young and the young at heart.
