Find Your Dream Chevy Camaro at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford

The Chevy Camaro has been one of the classic American pony cars since its release in the late 1960s. The sports coupe remains an icon on the road, and whenever you see one drive by, you probably turn your head and dream of the day you own one. Well, that day can be today here at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford. If you’ve been searching for the right ‘used car dealership near me‘ on Google and you’re not sure what dealership to visit, here at Rick Hendrick, we have one of the largest used vehicle lots in the state, which means we’re also more likely to have the right used Chevy Camaro as well. Plus, as we are an official Chevy dealership, we carry Certified Pre-Owned Camaros, which means you’ll receive added perks and warranty benefits with a used model. While there are several Camaro generations and model years out there, let’s take a better look at the sixth generation, which is the most current offering from Chevy.
2016 Chevy Camaro
The 2016 Chevy Camaro came out in 2015. This was a special release in that it also marked the car’s 50th anniversary (even though there were a few years back in the late 2000s where Chevy did not make the vehicle). Made in Lansing, Michigan, and built on the same platform as the Cadillac ATS, it has a refined presentation over the fifth generation. In fact, this trimmed down aggressive design helped cut off 200 pounds from the 2015 model. But don’t worry, while there wouldn’t be anything truly wrong with the Camaro sharing body parts with a Cadillac, over 70 percent of the body design and material is unique to the Camaro and the Camaro alone. Most other manufacturers can’t say that. So when you buy the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro, you’re buying a vehicle that isn’t like anything else on the road.
You will find a handful of engine options for the 2016 model year. This includes a base 2.0L turbocharged I4 engine. This base produces 275 horsepower. The next step up is a 3.6L V6 that produces 335 horsepower. However, if you shop around for some of the higher-performance trims, such as the SS, the 2016 model came with a 6.2L V8 that produces 455 horsepower. A little later in the year, the ZL1 model of the sixth-generation came out. This trim uses a supercharged V8 that produced 650 horsepower. This is a very similar engine to what the Corvette Z06 uses.
While the 2016 model year came with several engine and performance upgrades over the 2015 fifth-gen model, it also offered an internal entertainment system that featured both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability. This is an important feature to look for in a used vehicle as it will help you go hands-free while driving (and if you go for a manual transmission Camaro, you don’t want one of your hands on your phone).
2017 Chevy Camaro

One thing that was missing from the 2016 release was the 1LE performance package. If you’re looking for the added performance features you’ll want to start your search with the 2017 model year. The 1LE comes with either the V6 or V8 engine options and delivers different paint and hood designs. It also uses different wheels for a more aggressive look. There are some tweaks in the suspension as well.
The ZL1 trim saw several upgrades over the previous year, which included a 10-speed automatic transmission. In becoming one of the first vehicles on the market to offer such a feature, it dramatically helped improve the acceleration speed while making shifting between gears that much smoother. Overall, buying the 2016 model year of this used car is a good choice.
2018 Chevy Camaro
While Chevy introduced the 1LE with the 2017 model year, it did not offer the performance package on the ZL1 trim. This was the major change with the 2018 model year. Chevy decided to make this package an available option, which improved the aerodynamic design of the pony car while also providing the car with a new adjustable suspension. The wheels also saw a significant reduction in weight with the move to forged aluminum. If you’re able to find the ZL1 1LE trim and performance package combination, it will be lighter than the regular ZL1 (by a good 60 pounds).
2019 Chevy Camaro
The Camaro received a mid-gen facelift with the 2019 model year. Most of the other Chevy models received a similar update around this same time. Some of the tweaks on the Camaro includes a new bumper and headlight design. The headlights are tucked back inside of the front while the grille pushes outward. The 2019 model brings the 10-speed automatic transmission down to the SS trim as well. This way, you don’t have to max out the trim to nab this transmission feature.
In the 2019 model year, you’ll see a number of small tweaks on the interior. This includes the new Chevy Infotainment system, which is snappier than the previous generations.
You will need to decide whether you like the facelift or not. There are some that like the extra squinted design of the LED headlights and the grille, but others are not a fan. You’ll need to look at the 2019 Chevy Camaro and decide what you like the best. If you are a fan of the previous look, by all means, go for the 2016-2018 model years. However, the initial MSRP of the 2019 was actually lower than the initial MSRP of the 2018 (by several thousand dollars), so you may find a used 2019 model for a similar, if not lower price point than the 2018 model. Not too shabby. But you’re the one that will be driving it, so go with the look you like.

2020 Chevy Camaro
You won’t find too many of these as used on the lot just yet. However, as the 2021 model year is right around the corner, it won’t be long until the 2020s start showing up as used options. Because the 2019 model saw the mid-gen facelift, there aren’t too many tweaks or updates on the 2020 Chevy Camaro. However, the 10-speed automatic transmission is now available with the V6 engine as well, which is great if you’re looking for a way to get a near-new Camaro but want to save money as well. The V6 trims are always less than the V8. There are also some new 20-inch wheels for the LT trim, and the convertible did receive some slight body improvements as well.
Your Dream Used Camaro Awaits
One of the best ways to purchase your dream Chevy Camaro is to go the used route. You’ll let the previous owner take most of the depreciation hit, which means you’ll get more bang for your buck. Plus, as the sixth generation is the current generation of the Camaro, you can buy a used sixth gen model, and it will have the same face and body styling of those that are brand new. So if you want a Chevy Camaro and want to save money on it at the same time, come on out to see us here at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford.
