Classic Meets the Future with the 2018 Corvette Stingray

October 26th, 2017 by

The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is the performance vehicle for drivers who love speed. The 2018 ZR1 Stingray should hit showroom floors with a new aerodynamic design available in both a coupe and a convertible with a choice of engines. Here are some of the things you can expect to see with the newest version of the Stingray, where classic meets the future.

The Engine
The Stingray is the entry-level Corvette and comes with a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that generates 455 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. You can add a performance exhaust to bump up the horsepower to 460, and it comes with a seven-speed manual transmission with the option for an eight-speed automatic.

The Trims
Chevy offers the Stingray in three different trim levels, whether you choose the coupe or the convertible. The base is the 1LT which comes with 18-inch front wheels and 19-inch rear wheels and summer tires. You’ll also get xenon headlights and Brembo brakes along with LED running lights. The 2LT adds auto-dimming side mirrors and a cargo shade for the coupe. A bump up to the 3LT will get you an upgraded interior, and a premium navigation system.

Performance
The Stingray’s engine is fast and responsive. It will go from zero to sixty in under four seconds with the automatic transmission and will get there in four seconds with the manual. Since this is a performance vehicle, the steering is responsive and precise so that you can keep the car right in line. It also keeps a fantastic grip on the road for confident driving at high speeds.

Interior
The cabin features comfortable and supportive seats that will adjust in several ways so you can get just the right fit. All the trims come with leather upholstery, but if you bump up to the 3LT, you’ll get premium leather seats and a simulated-suede leather trim. The 2LT models come with heated and ventilated seats along with driver memory settings, and a 10-speaker audio system.

The coupe model has enough space in the trunk for a set of golf clubs, and with 15 cubic feet, it is one of the larger trunks in the segment. The convertible has ten cubic feet in the trunk.

Safety Features
All the trims come standard with a rearview camera, and the 2LT model adds a front-view parking camera system. This performance vehicle comes with a full suite of airbags, including side-mounted airbags.

Technology
Even the base model Stingray comes well-equipped with the latest technology. It includes Chevy’s Onstar telematics system and the MyLink infotainment system along with an 8-inch touch screen display. You’ll also get two USB ports, Bluetooth for phone and audio, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Upgrade to the 3LT to add a navigation system that includes a performance data recorder.

These are some of the classic features and present technology you’ll find in the 2018 Corvette Stingray. This performance vehicle combines its classic styling with a modern look and the latest features.
