8 Things to Do in Atlanta, GA to Ring In the New Year

Ringing in the 2020 New Year will bring us into a whole new decade this time around. If you are in Atlanta, GA, this means that there will be plenty of fun things to do to celebrate. Our team at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet is proud to be an integral part of the community, and we are excited to welcome the ‘20s. This year’s celebrations will be the end of an era and will bring about great changes.

We asked around to find the hottest parties and coolest places to chill in Atlanta for the New Year. There are some amazing events happening, and we are excited to share our New Year’s findings with you.

#1 – Gatsby’s Penthouse – 8:30 PM to 1:00 AM

It wouldn’t be the Roaring Twenties without a nod to the great host in literary history – Jay Gatsby. On New Year’s Eve, Atlanta Nightlife proudly presents Gatsby’s Penthouse to celebrate New Year’s 2020.

This upscale event will cater to VIPs only and features a premium open bar, three mingling areas, a live DJ, and, of course, the NYE Countdown. For amazing photo opportunities, guests can visit the skyline viewpoint. Complimentary party favors and light hors d’oeuvres will also be provided, and the dress code is semi-formal (flapper costumes and zoot suits are highly encouraged).

This highly anticipated party will happen at the Ventanas, located at 275 Baker Street. Tickets range from $149 to $699, and guests will have access to the hotel’s helipad for scenic views and spectacular photos.

#2 – Atlanta NYElectric 2020 – 8:30 PM to 1:30 AM

Hosted by the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Downtown Atlanta, this event might just be the biggest NYE Countdown in the area. With a 5-hour open bar, two ballrooms, and a silent disco party room, NYEletcric will feature four of Atlanta’s top DJs, including Captain Malik, DJ Roots Queen, DJ P Rock, and The Human DJ. The state-of-the-art lighting and sound system will have everyone amped up in time for the big Countdown to 2020.

Party favors will be provided, and the dress code is set to upscale cocktail/semi-formal. LED gear is encouraged, and guests can pick up their wristbands earlier in the day to avoid waiting in a long line at night.

Located at 210 Peachtree St. NW, attendees can self-park on hotel property or at various parking garages in the area. Tickets range from $99 to $899.

#3 – Atlanta Brew Year’s Eve 2020 – 8:30 PM to 1:30 AM

If you are looking for an event that is more laid back, consider grabbing a ticket to Atlanta Brew Year’s Eve. This party will happen at the Georgia Freight Depo, which is one of the oldest buildings in the downtown area.

The 5-hour open bar will offer craft, domestic, and imported beers, wine, and midnight champagne for toasting. Party favors will be provided, and two DJs (DJ’s Zack Falls & DJ OneNate) will have the place jamming all night. The dress code is upscale/casual for a more relaxing vibe.

Located at 65 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, this party is perfect for people who like ring in the New Year in a more subtle way. Tickets range from $62 to $449.

#4 – NYE in the ATL 2020 – 6:00 PM to 3:00 AM

For urban professionals to get their groove on, NYE in the ATL is a great event to network and party at the same time. Hosted by Rashan Ali, Sasha The Diva, and DJ Traci Steele, this party offers a social mega mixer from 6 PM to 9 PM with live entertainment. House of Comedy will also be bringing in several national comedians to perform throughout the night.

From 9 PM to 3 AM, four party rooms will be open for the guests’ enjoyment. The NYE Grand Party Room will feature HipHop and R&B music, the Old School Party Room will be playing 80s and 90s Old School Rap and R&B, the Up-North Party Room will feature House and GoGo jams, and the Caribbean Soul Party Room will be playing Reggae, Soca, and Dancehall music.

There will also be a midnight breakfast buffet available from 11:30 PM until 1:30 AM. This event will take place at the Hilton Atlanta South, located at 1031 Virginia Ave. Tickets range from $50 to $1,695.

#5 – New Year’s Eve Frankenstein’s Ball – 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM

If you are into classic literature, Frankenstein’s Ball might just be the place for you. Guests will get to mingle with characters from the brilliant mind of English author Mary Shelley and interact with various scenes from the novel in different rooms. Other activities include creating a bouquet for Frankenstein’s Bride and even mixing concoctions with Victor Frankenstein himself.

The bar opens at 8 PM, and the show starts at 9 PM. This event takes place at the Highland Inn and Ballroom Lounge, located at 644 North Highland Avenue Northeast. Tickets are $90.

#6 – NYE Party by Axis RePlay – 7:00 PM to 2:00 AM

If you are trying to stick to a budget this year, you can still find cool parties to attend. One great event to go to will be the NYE Party hosted by Axis RePlay. Free admission makes this an attractive option for a lot of people who just want to enjoy the evening without spending hundreds of dollars.

This event will offer games, drinks, food, a silent disco, and much more. Complimentary parking is also available, and the venue is located at 112 Krog St. #10 in Atlanta, GA.

#7 – Jesus 2020 Countdown Christian New Year’s Eve Gala – 8:00 PM

For folks who don’t drink and like to observe a more conservative side of celebrating the New Year, Jesus Countdown 2020 might be the right place for you.

Hosted by the JCD4U Church, a buffet will be served from 8:00 Pm to 9:00 PM, followed by music and fellowship until 11:00. After that, a worship service will begin and conclude at midnight. This event is for adults only and is alcohol/smoke-free. Guests are being asked to dress in formal church attire.

The Gala will be held at the Main Street Fellowship Hall, located at 2367 Main Street in Tucker, GA. Tickets are $15, and all proceeds will benefit the JCD4U Church ministry.

#8 – New Year’s Eve Kids Countdown – 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM

If you haven’t made any plans for New Year’s because you can’t bring the kids to any of these events, we have a solution! New Year’s Eve Kids Countdown hosted by Kids & Main Drop-In Childcare will take care of your little ones while you hit the town.

Children can be dropped off in their pajamas with a sleeping bag for an NYE party they will never forget. Games, prizes, face painting, pizza, and snacks will be provided, and the Countdown with a balloon drop will happen at 10:30 PM.

This kid-friendly party is located at 755 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, #Suite 1510 in Lawrenceville, GA. Reservations must be made in advance. Tickets range from $80 to $100.
