As an athletically-inclined compact crossover, the 2020 Chevy Trax is loaded with the coolest features available in its class. From advanced safety features to high-tech gadgets and everything in-between, this petite SUV is ideal for singles, couples, and small families. We asked our auto experts here at your local Chevy dealer, Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford, what their favorite features on this ride are. So, without further ado, here are the 7 big features on the 2020 Chevy Trax.

1. A Well-Rounded Powertrain

When it comes to compact SUVs, most people think they are underpowered and only useful for city driving. However, this simply isn’t the case with the new 2020 Chevy Trax. Rumbling under the hood is a turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Together, they can get up to 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, which is more than other competitors in this class, such as the Ford Ecosport. Because of this small yet robust engine, drivers can enjoy the high fuel economy that comes with it. The average is about 28 MPG combined (26 city/31 highway).

2. An All-Inclusive Infotainment Interface

Often, base model vehicles do not come with all the bells and whistles of high trim levels. This can be especially true for the infotainment system. Generally speaking, base trims have tiny monitors and limited functions outside of Bluetooth. In the case of the 2020 Chevy Trax, things have changed.

Inside the cabin is the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system that is displayed on a 7-inch touchscreen that functions with a 4G LTE Wifi hotspot, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If you need to take a call from your boss or make one to your spouse, you can do so hands-free. You can also send text messages, stream your favorite music, and integrate your most-used apps. Essentially, your vehicle’s infotainment interface will become one with your smartphone, allowing for seamless integration and user-friendly capabilities.

3. A Multitude of Charging Outlets

In the 2020 Chevy Trax, finding a power source is never a problem. Every trim level comes with at least two USB ports that can be used to charge your mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Once you get to the mid-level LT trim, you will also get the added 110-volt outlet. This is useful for hooking up accessories.

For example, if you love going on camping trips, you are probably aware of all the cool gadgets you can take to make the trip easier. Rechargeable lanterns, heated blankets, Bluetooth speakers, air pumps, and even a portable heater are all commonly used by folks who like to head out into the wild on adventures. You can plug accessories like these into your Trax using the 100-volt outlet. Take the comforts of home everywhere you go.

4. The Sun and Sound Package

Also available on the mid-level LT trim is the Sun and Sound package. This is a luxurious add-on that includes a sunroof and an upgraded stereo system. The sunroof can be opened with the touch of a button, and you can enjoy a nice breeze from the outside. Meanwhile, the premium seven-speaker Bose stereo offers studio-quality sound for an enhanced listening experience. If you love cruising down the highway with the cool wind in your hair and your favorite bands playing in the background, this package is ideal for you.

5. The Driver Confidence Package

As far as safety goes, every Trax comes with a rearview camera to assist with reversing out of tight spaces. You can see what’s behind the vehicle before backing up, which can help to prevent fender benders. Taking safety to the next level is the Driver Confidence package.

This adds advanced safety features, including blindspot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors to help prevent accidents on the road.

There’s nothing more aggravating than having to swerve to avoid hitting a car that was hiding in your blind spot. However, blind spots are hard to get rid of, and most SUVs have big ones. The blindspot monitoring system uses sensors to monitor when a vehicle has entered your blind spot. A flashing light will appear on the driver’s exterior side mirror, letting you know that a vehicle is nearby. This is great when you are traveling on a highway with multiple lanes during heavy traffic.

Rear cross-traffic alert works similarly to blindspot monitoring, but it monitors the area behind your vehicle. If a pedestrian or another car crosses behind your vehicle, the system will alert you. As for the rear parking sensors, they work in unison to help prevent fender benders along with the rear cross-traffic alert and a rearview camera.

6. The LT Convenience Package

Another upgrade for the LT trim level is the LT Convenience package. This added smooth leather wrappings to the steering wheel and simulated leather accents on the cloth seats. Meant to bring a touch of elegance to the cabin, this package is for those who like to drive around in style. It also adds keyless ignition and entry, making it easy to get in and go in the mornings.

7. The LT Redline Edition

The last of the seven big features on the 2020 Chevy Trax is the LT Redline Edition. Rolling on 18-inch alloy wheels painted black with contrasting red accents, this model is quite a looker. The exterior accents for the front and back bumpers, door handles, side mirrors, and trims are all done in black as well for a mysterious style. If you are into the darkened aesthetic, then this is the vehicle for you. It also comes with roof rails for extra storage space, LED running lights, and power-adjustable heated side mirrors. If you want a compact crossover that stands out from the crowd, the LT Redline Edition is your best bet.

How Much Space Does It Offer?

The 2020 Chevy Trax can seat up to five people comfortably. It also has about 18.7 cubic feet of room behind the back row for you to store groceries, shopping bags, luggage, sports gear, backpacks, and more. If you find yourself needing a little extra space, you can fold down the back seats, which have 60/40 split-folding capabilities, to expand the cargo area to 48.4 cubic feet. This is perfect for singles or anyone who is hitting the road without back seat passengers. You can shove whatever you want inside and attach what won’t fit onto the roof.
