  • Interior

Let's face it, when you are looking at a vehicle like the Suburban, one of the biggest considerations on your mind is going to be interior passenger and cargo space. The Suburban has always been known for having a generously-sized interior with lots of space for both cargo and passengers, but it has reached new heights. While the difference between the previous generation and the current Suburban may look inconsequential from the outside, you will surely notice the increased space once you enter the vehicle. Barry Engle of GM North America put it nicely when he stated, “We’ve taken what people love about these pioneering SUVs and made them even better – adding more room for people and cargo, more advanced technology, and an unrivaled driving experience.” Intriguing, yes. But let’s go further still.

More Spacious for a Better Driving Experience

Chevrolet upgraded these SUVs in quite a drastic way by combining elements of the company’s new full-size truck architecture with new systems designed for modern-day SUV drivers. Let’s begin with the architecture. The 2022 Chevy Suburban features an independent rear suspension and a longer wheelbase. The combination of the new chassis and longer wheelbase make for a smoother ride, especially on uneven or unpaved surfaces. So, what was already a smooth ride has now become even soother.

As you may have guessed, this chassis-wheelbase combination also makes for a more spacious interior. To help make it even more spacious, the 2022 Subruban’s load floors are lower, making for a more comfortable and natural seating position and an overall increase of 10 inches of third-row legroom. It’s not just about more passenger space, though, because with these updates comes 19-percent more cargo space behind the first row, a number that has the distinction of being best-in-class. The grand total, then, is an overall length of 225.7 inches and a maximum cargo capacity of 144.7 cubic feet. While the Suburban's maximum cargo volume increases by 19-percent (as previously mentioned), giving it the most passenger and cargo space of any SUV, the vehicle’s overall length remarkably only increases by 1 inch. How’s that for efficiency?

  • Performance

Perhaps the most significant advancements of the Suburban is its suspension technology, which consists of three lateral arms, a large longitudinal arm, coil springs, and a stabilizer bar. The independent multilink rear suspension allows for separate handling between the two rear wheels, increasing steering responsiveness and driver control, mimicking that of a smaller vehicle.

Taking things to a whole new level is the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, available on certain trims, which provides automatic load-leveling and ride-height adjustment (up to 4 inches!). Now, to harp on the automatic element, the ride height is automatically lowered by ¾-inch on the highway in order to improve fuel efficiency and aerodynamics. In addition to its automatic features, the program allows for driver selection making for easier mounting and dismounting upon entering and exiting, and so on. The 2022 Chevy Suburban will literally bow to your needs. Just wait until you see how it performs on the road.

In True Chevy Fashion, There Are Multiple Engine Options

The 2022 Suburban offers a V8 engine, which gives it the highest-quality performance specs. With the available 6.2-liter V8 engine, the Suburban can reach 420 horsepower, and the industry-first Dynamic Fuel Management technology, designed with more than 12 modes of cylinder deactivation, makes the engine highly efficient. However, the standard 5.3-liter V8 will still give you plenty of power with 355 hp and 383 pound-feet of torque; plus, it gets the most towing with a maximum of 8,300 pounds.

Now, if you don’t need quite as much horsepower, but you need as much torque as possible, then you’ll want to look at the Duramax 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine, which is available on all models except the Z71. This engine achieves 277 horsepower and an astonishing 460 pound-feet of torque. If you are worried about fuel efficiency, this is the engine to get as you will see roughly 21 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway. Needless to say, the 2022 Suburban is a highly-performing vehicle.

  • Technology

    Suburban Safety Technology

Chevy is renowned for its safety technology. To begin with, Chevy Safety Assist and Chevy Teen Driver are two of the best safety packages in the business, and you certainly will want a Chevy Teen Driver if you anticipate the kids will be learning to drive in this vehicle. This vehicle comes standard with features like Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam High Beam Assist. With its 30 safety technology features, the 2022 Chevy Suburban will do everything it can to keep you and your family safe, so long as you do all that you can as well.

    Suburban Infotainment Technology

The Suburban is taking technology to a new level with its rear-seat media system. Each of the two 12.6-inch screens is positioned to provide the best possible viewing experience, even if they are different experiences; yes, each screen is able to play an individual program, so there need not be disagreement over what to watch on a road trip. On the flip side of that scenario, the two screens are able to share media between themselves and mirror content from an Android phone to a screen, as well as send navigation points of interest. This really is a step up in the realm of backseat entertainment.
