Although the engine is certainly important in any vehicle, when looking at an EV model like the 2021 Chevy Bolt EV, you really want to see that the drive unit has plenty of power, is fun on the road, and offers excellent range. The range is, perhaps, the most important element to consider since it will impact how often you need to recharge your vehicle. Most EV models are fine for getting around the neighborhood and running errands, but the exceptional range of the Bolt EV makes it ideal for handling anything you want to do.
That kind of freedom is not something you will necessarily find with every EV out there and really sets the Bolt EV apart. The 2021 Chevy Bolt EV gets up to an estimated 259 miles off a full charge. That is far more than a lot of EV models from other manufacturers and is actually best in class for this type of car. While the actual range will, of course, vary slightly based on your driving habits, you can expect to get well over 200 miles of driving off a full charge.
This much range makes the Bolt EV a fantastic option for anything you want to do, even long-distance road trips. The electric drive unit also delivers up to 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque, giving the Bolt EV the ability to go from 0 to 60 in just 6.5 seconds. In other words, not only can the Bolt EV go the distance, but it is incredibly fun to drive, with a quick and responsive feel that lets you really enjoy your time on the road.
One of the things we really like about the 2021 Chevy Bolt EV is that even though it is a small or compact model, you still get a great amount of room inside that you can really take advantage of. The Bolt EV can comfortably seat up to five people with plenty of space in the front and back seats for everyone to be quite comfortable. You get about 40 inches of headroom and over 41 inches of legroom in the front, with about 38 inches of headroom and over 36 inches of legroom in the back. That is quite a lot for such a compact model and only adds to the versatility of the Bolt EV.
Plenty of Cargo Room
If you are more interested in loading up for a road trip or weekend of camping, then the Bolt EVcan certainly help you out there too. You get nearly 17 cu.ft. of volume behind the rear seats with the Bolt EV, and it has a rear hatch that makes it easy to get to all the space and take advantage of it. If you fold down the rear seats, then you have more than 56 cu.ft. of total cargo space inside the Chevy Bolt EV. This gives you a lot of room to load up with everything you need, from coolers and sleeping bags to hardware and furniture.
The powerful and long-range batteries are not the only impressive technology inside the 2021 Chevy Bolt EV. This vehicle features a number of terrific tech options to enjoy. Even with the standard LT trim, you still get excellent features, and if you choose the Premier trim, then they only become more impressive. But no matter which you pick, you will ride in comfort.
With the LT trim, you get a standard 10-inch infotainment display that looks gorgeous and features support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This screen makes it easy to keep track of real-time vehicle information and access entertainment options. The LT comes with a 6-speaker sound system, numerous USB ports, and a deluxe steering wheel with mounted controls. You also get an 8-inch digital driver information center with enhanced graphics, which you can configure to display the information you need. With standard keyless open and start, remote start, and location-based charging that you can program to recognize when you are charging your vehicle at home, the standard features are definitely impressive.
If you choose the Premier trim, however, then the technology and luxury you get are all taken even further. The Premier features standard heated front and rear seats, plus a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted controls, and interior ambient lighting. You also get remote start, a rear camera mirror, and LED lighting details throughout the interior. Plus, you can take your features even further with an available wireless charging pad, Bose premium 7-speaker sound system, and additional USB ports.
Not only does the 2021 Chevy Bolt EV offer excellent electric range, but it is also one of the safest cars on the road. Standard safety features include ten airbags, an HD rear vision camera, and LED daytime running lamps. You also get a pedestrian safety signal, a tire pressure monitoring system with a tire fill alert, and StabiliTrak electronic stability and traction control, plus a Teen driver safety system - all standard.
As you might expect, there are also a number of available safety features that you can opt for if you want your vehicle to go truly above and beyond. These include a following distance indicator to warn you when you are too close to a vehicle in front of you, automatic emergency braking, and a forward collision alert. You can get available front pedestrian braking, an HD surround vision system to give you a better sense of your surroundings, and a lane change alert with side blind zone alert. A lane keep assist system with a lane departure warning, a rear cross traffic alert, and rear park assist are also all available – some of these come standard with the Premier trim, while others remain purely optional.
