Your First Glance at the 2018 Traverse

April 20th, 2017 by

Completely redesigned for the 2018 model year, the Chevrolet Traverse has some exciting new modifications, features, and amenities. Getting inspiration from the Chevy Tahoe, the new Traverse has a longer wheelbase that creates a much smoother ride and provides more room for both the driver and passengers.

Modifications to the 3.6-liter V6 engine give this vehicle better fuel economy, improved towing capacity, and greater horsepower — but we’ll talk more about that later. What else will this Chevy SUV feature? Read on to discover some of the reasons why we’re excited for the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse.

Improved Engine Power & Performance

The 2018 Traverse models are powered by the same 3.6-liter engine as the 2017 model, but Chevy modified it to improve its performance. By pairing this engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission and upping the horsepower by 10 percent, drivers get roughly 300 horsepower. The other engine choice is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates between 259 and 272 horsepower.

The V6 engine is predicted to return 18 miles per gallon in the city and 25 mpg on the highway with a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, while the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine will return 20 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

Advanced All-wheel Drive (AWD) System

Typically, an AWD system engages all four wheels on the road, but that’s not the case for the 2018 Traverse. This system is designed to switch to front-wheel drive when four-wheel drive isn’t necessary. While decreasing the wear on the front tires, this AWD system also conserves fuel. But that’s not all: The Traction Mode Select system comes standard on all 2018 models. This feature allows drivers to choose different settings for different road conditions, allowing for a more customized driving experience.

More Interior Room & Storage

Seating up to eight passengers, the 2018 Traverse has the best-in-class maximum passenger volume and third-row legroom. On top of that, there are optional features such as leather upholstery, heating and ventilation, and infotainment screens in the center of the dash for added comfort during those longer road trips.

The second-row seats slide and fold in a number of different ways, giving way to 98.5 cubic feet of cargo space; this is perfect for all of your hauling needs. The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse also has hidden storage compartments under the floor in the rear.

Safety Comes First

Coming standard on all 2018 Traverse models is Chevrolet’s Teen Driver system, which allows parents to monitor their kids’ driving behavior. The system also turns on collision alert and automatic braking, and it mutes the audio until the driver buckles his or her seatbelt. Other safety features include lane departure warning and lane keep assist. A 360-degree camera is available for additional safety and convenience.

And there you have it, just a few reasons why the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is better than ever. But don’t just read it here — stop by our dealership today for more information.
