It won’t be long before it’s peach season in Georgia. Everywhere you go you’ll see signs for fresh peaches, peach preserves, and peach pies. The smell alone will stir your senses and send you on a hunt for the best peaches you can find. But where do you go? If you are looking for the best peaches in Georgia, you need to check out these five places.

Lane South Orchards

South of Macon, Georgia, just west of the I-75 you will find a fully functioning peach orchard –Lane South Orchards. Not only is this a fantastic place to pick up some Georgia peaches. You can also visit a real working farm. Farmers pick, package, and send peaches off to grocery stores every day. Plus there is a fantastic café and bakery where you can have lunch or pick up a treat for later.

Dickey Farms

In Musella, Georgia you will find the best peaches at Dickey Farms. This farm is the oldest peach packing house in all of Georgia, and it offers some of the sweetest, juiciest peaches around. But peaches aren’t always in season, which is why Dickey Farms provides other great treats for you to taste year round. On a visit here you’ll find extra treasures such as pecans, ciders, jellies, and barbecue sauce.

Pearson Farm

Are you looking for peaches good enough to use in making ice cream? Check out Pearson Farm in Fort Valley, Georgia, where the peaches are so good they make ice cream out of them there. During peach season, this farm welcomes visitors into their packing house. The rest of the year you can buy their famous peach ice cream. It’s even been bragged about in Southern Living Magazine. If peaches are not for you, pick up pecans during pecan season.

Taylor Orchards

Located in the heart of the Georgia peach belt, in Reynolds you will find Taylor Orchards. This farm has the perfect growing environment with fertile soil and plenty of sunshine to grow the perfect peach. In addition to fabulous peaches, there is also a great strawberry patch where you can pick sweet strawberries. Plus, there is a country store where you will find treats such as sauces, syrups, jellies, jams, and more.

Georgia is the Peach State, so if you can’t make it to any of these great farms, you can still find great peaches in your local farmers market. The Atlanta State Market is a favorite, but check out the state listing of farmers markets to find one close to you. Ask for a sample while strolling through, and you are sure to find a great Georgia Peach.
