5 Reasons You Need a Chevy Silverado 3500HD

November 24th, 2016 by

The Chevy Silverado 3500HD is the most powerful and the toughest of the Chevy pickup trucks. Although they gave the truck some minor updates every year, for 2017 you can expect to see some more significant changes. Here are just a few of the reasons why you need a Chevy Silverado 3500HD.

The Power

The base model Silverado comes with a 6.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. One of the updates for 2017 is a revamped optional 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine. This now puts out 445 horsepower and an impressive 910 pound-feet of torque, and both engines come with a six-speed automatic transmission. The top of the line High Country trim comes with cargo box-tie downs and a spray-on bed liner. When equipped, the Silverado 3500HD can tow up to 23,200 pounds and haul up to 7153 pounds in the bed. All the models have a CornerStep bumper to help give you better stability when loading and unloading the back of the truck.

Exterior Options

There are three different cab styles to choose from and two different bed lengths. You can also choose from four different wheelbases to get just the right truck for what you need. Chevrolet offers the Silverado in a regular cab, double cab, and crew cab, and you can choose between two and four wheel drive. You can also choose a single-rear-wheel or dual-rear-wheel configuration. If you go with the double cab or regular cab you can have an 8-foot bed, while the crew cabs come with either the longer bed or a shorter 6.5-foot bed.

Technology

Inside the Silverado, there are all kinds of technology to make your ride easier and more fun. The lower trims come with a 4.2-inch central display, but you can upgrade to a 7-inch or an 8-inch touchscreen depending on the trim level. Chevy’s OnStar infotainment system is also optional and comes complete with OnStar, Bluetooth, and satellite radio, and it is now compatible with both Apple Carplay and Android Auto. You will also find 4G LTE Wi-Fi in the truck, and you can use voice controls to operate your phone and other systems.

Safety Features

All the models come with traction and stability control, and trailer sway control. You’ll also have front-side airbags and side curtain airbags. Driver assist safety systems include lane-departure warning and forward collision alert. Add the Off-Road package for hill descent control and special shock absorbers.

Interior Comfort and Conveniences

The higher trim levels offer the kind of luxury you expect to see in a high-end sedan or sports car. The LT and LTZ trims offer an option for leather upholstery, a power-sliding rear window, and dual-zone automatic climate control. You can also opt for remote ignition and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. There is plenty of space in the rear seat for adult-size passengers in the four-door crew cab, and the seats are comfortable.

The Chevy Silverado 3500HD has a combination of power and style. You can use this truck at the worksite or bring it home to tow the family boat for the weekend.
