Buford is a beautiful town, but sometimes you have to hop in your car and take a quick day trip to other parts of Georgia. The next time you want to visit a fun, beautiful place, consider planning a trip to one of these three locations.

Stone Mountain Park

Stone Mountain covers 3,200 acres of beautiful nature just outside of Atlanta. The park has become popular for its fishing, golfing, and other recreational options.

Stone Mountain Park has attractions open throughout the year. During the winter, you can enjoy skiing and other winter sports. During summer, you can hike up to 15 miles of trails and frolic in the geyser. No matter what time of year it is, you can take a scenic train ride to the top of the mountain.

You can reach Stone Mountain Park by getting on I-85 and driving south until you reach Exit 99. Take the exit and follow Jimmy Carter Blvd for about five miles. Take a left onto Hugh Howell Rd and a right onto Silver Hill Rd. Follow the signs until you reach the park.

Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary

Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary provides a safe place for hundreds of animals to live. Some of the most popular animals at the sanctuary include Baloo the Bear, Leo the Lion, and Shere Khan the Tiger. Believe it or not, these three hunters are close friends who love spending time together. Noah’s Ark also has a dog and cat adoption facility. If you have room in your home, open it to one of these beautiful animals.

You can visit Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary for free as long as you’re willing to take a self-guided tour. Of course, donations are always welcome! The Walk on the Wild Side Tour gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how the sanctuary operates.

To find Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary, take I-85 South to I-285 South. Connect with I-675 South for a few miles until you can merge with I-75 South. Get off the interstate at exit 212 and follow the signs to the animal sanctuary.

Six Flags Over Georgia

Six Flags Over Georgia has a variety of rides for every member of your family. Adults who enjoy thrills will want to strap into Acrophobia, BATMAN: The Ride, and the new Blue Hawk roller coaster. Younger members (and those who just don’t care for scary rides) can drive mini trucks at ACME Trucking Company, race each other at the go-kart track, and spin themselves dizzy on Harley Quinn Spinsanity.

Six Flags Over Georgia is an easy drive from Buford. Just take I-85 south and head west on I-20. You’ll see the amusement park as soon as you get off at exit 47.
